In a new story by Rolling Stone Magazine, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is describes as living a life of violence and gangster culture despite being a million dollar athlete and after the star was arrested for murder, the article dives deep in how something like that could have occurred.
The full article hasn't been released yet, but Rolling Stone gave up some details. According to Rolling Stone.com, Hernandez's mother Terri Hernandez, who has some issues in her own past like helping run a gambling ring, allegedly cheated on Hernandez's father Dennis with a man named Jeffery Cummings. The report says that Cummings was a "violent drug dealer" and that after Hernandez's father Dennis died, Terri married Cummings and they lived in the same house that Aaron lived in when younger.
Hernandez idolized his father before he died and many reports about his past have said that the character issues and trouble for the tight end began in earnest after his father died. That wasn't the only detail released, as the article says that both Terri and Dennis as well as a number of family remembers had criminal records and also that Hernandez himself hung out with the wrong people, including "gangsters" and the like, rather than his teammates or family. Hernandez's past has been scrutinized since he was arrested for the murder of Odin Lloyd and incidents from his time at Florida have come to light, including when he was involved in a bar fight as well as a shooting in his early Gator days.

The article contends that his Gators head coach Urban Meyer helped "cover up" failed drug tests and also helped with the bar assault and the shooting that happened near a Gainesville bar. On top of that, Hernandez is already dealing with proceedings from another shooting in which a man names Alexander Bradley is accusing the tight end of shooting him and injuring his eye from earlier this year.
Hernandez also was a "heavy user" of angel dust and was "paranoid", which is why he always wanted to have a gun where he was. The article also says that his head coach Bill Belichick was at the last straw with him due to missing practices and doing "thug-life stunts" and that he was close to being cut. Hernandez was looked at as one of the top young tight ends in the game before this happened and now he may never get out of jail.
Hernandez is facing life in prison on first degree murder charges in the death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd and reports have said that the shooting stemmed from a dispute the two had at a nightclub. The Patriots released the tight end the day he was arrested and he has pleaded not guilty to the charges and now the next step will be an arraignment in superior court on Friday.
