NY Knicks Rumors: Hamed Haddadi Works Out For New Orleans Pelicans As New York To Sign Earl Barron or Veteran Free Agent?

The New York Knicks are working on finalizing their roster for training camp and after having international star and former Grizzlies player Hamed Haddadi in for a workout, the veteran free agent has also met and worked out with the New Orleans Pelicans.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Haddadi previously had interest from the Knicks and still might and after he worked out for the tea, he also got a work out from the Pelicans, who are trying to rebuild their team into a winner after trading for Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday. The Knicks may sign Jeremy Tyler after averaging 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds a game during the summer, but Haddadi could be a nice option as well.

Haddadi averaged 2.8 points and nearly four rebounds in 30 games for the Suns in 2012 and he previously played for the Grizzlies over four seasons, never getting over 36 games. He was moved in the Rudy Gay deal to the Suns and is now a free agent and the Pelicans and Knicks seem to be the best fits. The Knicks have looked at Earl Barron as a reserve option and Haddadi could also give depth up front alongside Tyson Chandler, Kenyon Martin and Amare Stoudemire.

Haddadi and Barron are big dudes and since the Pelicans have Greg Stiemsma and rookie Jeff Withey, the Knicks might be a better fit for the forward.
