Aaron Hernandez is in court on Friday in superior court in Fall River for an arraignment in the murder case of Odin Lloyd and his mother Terri Hernandez and his fiancé Shayanna Jenkins are both present in the courtroom.
Hernandez is facing first degree murder charges in the case and the arraignment on Friday will have the court formally reading the charges against Hernandez, including first degree murder charges and five other gun charges. Hernandez may request bail at the arraignment and it likely will be denied by the court after it was denied two previous times and Jenkins is obviously hoping he will be granted bail.
Lloyd was found dead on June 17th in an industrial park shot to death with five bullets and Hernandez was taken into custody the week after the murder and is being held on first degree murder charges. Hernandez is facing six charges and life in prison if he is convicted for the murder of Lloyd and now he could get bail another time down the line, as the judge said that the issue could come up again soon after the arraignment.
Hernandez is being held in the case based on various pieces of evidence including shell casings, text messages and video surveillance and now he could be facing life in prison for the charges. Various pieces of information have come out over the course of the case, including that Hernandez may have been using drugs and that he hid guns in the basement of his home. Police have not been able to locate the murder weapon in the case and they also searched a storage unit that was in Jenkins' name.
Hernandez's defense believes the case is not strong and that the evidence is circumstantial and that he should not be held without bail. Reports say Hernandez pulled the trigger due to a disagreement in a club with Lloyd, although other reports say it was due to Lloyd's knowledge of Hernandez's possible connection to a double murder from last year. Hernandez is linked to Lloyd through his girlfriend, as he was dating her sister, while two men, Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz are also being held in the case.
