The Washington Redskins and Phialdelphia Eagles square off in Week 1's Monday NIght Football matchup. Can't watch the game? Find out the score and get a play-by-play as we bring you a live blog of this ball game featuring NFC East rivals. Game time is a little after 7:10 p.m. ET. There's doubleheader action Monday night with the Redskins and Eagles highlighting the night's matchups.
The Redskins are coming off a ridiculous NFL Preseason where they finished with a perfect 4-0 record. The Eagles were right behind them in the NFC standings, finishing with an even 2-2 record. Now, whatever we saw in the preseason will go out the window. The regular season is here and the Eagles feel they have the right coach and playmakers to bring back the old winning ways to Philadelphia.
The Eagles and Coach Kelly will be looking to exhaust the living daylights out of their opponents' defense. The goal is to run plays in less than 15 seconds. With the Eagles' weapons, this offense could prove highly effective. Michael Vick is a scrambler, LeSean McCoy is a 1,000-yard rusher when healthy and DeSean Jackson has proven year after year that he's one of the biggest threats in the league. The Eagles will have to get past one of the toughest defenses in football as the Redskins appear to be fully healthy in 2013.
Just like the Eagles' offense depends on healthy, the Redskins defense can be successful only if they are healthy. Now, the team did well last season despite missing a few of their key players, so imagine all the damage they are expected to do with the return of Brian Orakpo.
The Redskins offense also looks armed and ready to go as their offensive leader, Robert Griffin III, is expected to make his anticipated return to football after suffering an ACL injury in last year's playoffs. Will his knee hold up? Can Mike Shanahan keep RG3 on the field while using his talented quarterback to his full potential? These are all questions the Redskins will have to answer if they are expected to make the 2013 playoffs and once again win the NFC East division.
