The first week of the NFL season is now done with and with Week 2 starting up quick on Thursday, it's time to take a look at some players that will be busts and sure sleepers this week, including names like Anquan Boldin, Terrelle Pryor, Fred Jackson, Joique Bell, Marlon Brown, Julius Thomas, Kellen Winslow as well as names like Eddie Lacy, Steven Jackson, Julian Edelman, LeGarrette Blount, Kellen Winslow, Knowshon Moreno and Brandon Jacobs.
The first week of the fantasy football and NFL regular season is always hard to predict and looking at how players will do in the second week can be swayed big time by whatever opponent they are playing. Either way, names like Colin Kaepernick and Anquan Boldin ffor the San Francisco 49ers should be solid starts again, even though the team is playing their division rivals in the Seattle Seahawks on the road.
Kaepernick was fantastic on Sunday in the 49ers win over the Green Bay Packers and one of the main reasons why was due to the play of Anquan Boldin, who was acquired in the offseason by the team from the Baltimore Ravens. Boldin made the team look foolish on Sunday, as he made 13 catches for 208 yards and a touchdown, better than the totals for the Baltimore Ravens in their game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night. Making things look even worse for the Ravens was the fact that Jacoby Jones was injured and now he will be out for a month. Maybe the team should have paid Boldin that extra $2 million?
Kaepernick is a must start no matter who he is playing, as he showed that he is no one-trick pony when it comes to playing quarterback, as he sat in the pocket and picked apart the defense for the Packers, throwing for over 400 yards and three touchdowns and this came after he killed the team last year in the playoffs, rushing for over 180 yards. The Packers now have to rebound and they will play the Washington Redskins and that makes running back Eddie Lacy and nice option heading into Week 2.
Lacy is likely to be the most productive rookie back this season after the Packers drafted him, cut Alex Green and lost DuJuan Harris to an injury and while he had just 41 yards and one catch for 31 yards, he is posed to breakout against the Redskins. The team had no answers for the Eagles and RB LeSean McCoy on Monday night and Lacy could be the next team to run over the Skins.
Terrelle Pryor showed that he could be a very nice sleeper quarterback, especially in leagues that put a premium on rushing yards. Pryor was the leading rusher in the NFL over the weekend and he also put up 217 passing yards and even through the Colts defeated Oakland, Pryor had them in position to win and could be a solid starter the rest of the season.
At the running back position, Fred Jackson showed that it isn't just the CJ Spiller show in Buffalo, rushing for 67 yards and adding 41 receiving and if he continues that production, he could be a solid second or third back in deeper leagues. Joique Bell is also an option if Reggie Bush gets banged up after how he played against the Vikings.
