Fedex Cup Standings 2013: Tiger Woods In First As PGA Leaderboard Has Zach Johnson After BMW Championship

Sep 16, 2013 09:31 AM EDT

The BMW Championship was one of many sporting events that was hit with bad weather over the weekend and the final round will get started on Monday morning and will give some golfers their first chance to finish things off, including Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk.

After tying the record with a 59, Stricker had a one shot lead heading into the final round and he is ahead of Steve Stricker and they are grouped together on Monday when things pick up. Furyk sits atop the board with 13 under for the tournament and on the leaderboard is Zach Johnson, Brandt Snedeker, Zach Johnson and Tiger Woods, who played well in the previous round to get himself back into contention. Woods had to deal with penalty strokes, losing two shots before the weekend when he moved a branch near the green and he was able to rebound and now he has the chance to get on top of the leaderboard as well.

The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup will advance and play is expected to start at 8 am and 9 am for some other players. Furyk is expected to tee off past 10:30 in the final group and Woods will tee off at 10:20 am and he sits and nine under for the tournament. Woods said after playing over the weekend that he was not too thrilled with the penalty he was assessed with and he was able to recover by shooting a five under on Saturday to move up the leaderboard and he will get his chance early on Monday after hitting a nice birdie on the last hole of the day.

Woods and his bff Sergio Garcia were paired up over the weekend and Woods had some very nice stretches of play during the middle part of the round and he also rebounded from a shot into the waiter later in his round. Woods thought he was not fairly penalized for the two strokes and depending on how he plays Monday, those two strokes could come back to haunt him.

The rain came down consistently on Sunday and basically flooded the course and after putting up the record 59, Furyk appears ready to get the victory unless he falters with an awful round. Weather could play a part again on Monday, but it is expected to be clear for most of the day. Only a handful of players were able to finish on Sunday and most of the field did not even get started for the final round and now television coverage will go on the Golf Channel at 10 am and will be there for the rest of play after being on network TV over the weekend.
