The Tampa Bay Rays host the Texas Rangers in the first of three games between the top two A.L. Wild Card teams. Both squads have scuffled and both are in danger of losing their only road to the playoffs. These games will be important, so check out the live stream available and if the live stream is unaccessible to you, check out the score provided.
The Rangers' midseason acquisition, Matt Garza will prove his worth to his new ball club and baseball in general. Don't know if anybody listened to me before the trade went down, but Garza's best pitching does not come late in the year. He has proved this himself going 0-2 in September, losing to both the Los Angeles Angels and the Pittsburgh Pirates in his only starts this month. In his career, Garza is now 10-15 in September and October with a 4.48 ERA.
(Read why I think Garza was all hype)
Since joining the Rangers, Garza is 3-4 with a 4.46 ERA.
The Rays will depend on their young right-hander, Alex Cobb. He is 8-3 in 2013 with a 3.08 ERA. Cobb has not won a decision in over a month, but he has not pitched poorly. He is 0-1 in his last four starts with a 3.91 ERA. Players are getting on base and they are seeing the ball from Cobb. The Rays will look to back their pitcher up and finally get a win with Cobb on the mound. The Rays are 0-4 in these last four starts.
In the standings, the Rays took hold of first place in the A.L. Wild Card. While the Rays are on a four-game skid with Cobb on the mound, the Rangers are on a six-game losing streak in general, recently getting swept by the Oakland Athletics.
