The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a surprising 3-0 start under new head coach Andy Reid and after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles on the road Thursday night, so does that make the pick from ESPN's Keyshawn Johnson for a KC-Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl not seem quite so crazy?
Johnson made the pick on the first NFL Countdown show of the season and said that his super Bowl prediction was the Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle is a savvy pick this season after the team went into the second round of the postseason behind Russell Wilson and the team is poised to join the Chiefs at 3-0 with the Jaguars coming to town on Sunday. The two teams could make Johnson look pretty genius at 3-0 and while it is a long season and things can change, there is a good chance that KC will make the playoffs as at least a wild card.
The NFL is one sport where a team can go from worst to first very easily and after having the number one overall pick and drafting Eric Fisher while also trading for QB Alex Smith, the Chiefs are much improved from the 2-14 team they were last season. When Johnson made the pick, he cited the fact that despite being just 2-14, the team had nine Pro Bowl players, with names like Jamaal Charles and others making it and now he feels the team can make a playoff run.
Johnson said on TV: "They are my Super Bowl pick. Not to win it, but to get there because of the conference. When you look at this football team and the make-up of this team - nine Pro Bowlers from a year ago. Now with nine Pro Bowlers, they add a coach in Andy Reid, a quarterback in Alex Smith, this looks like a real football team."
