The Chicago Bears are looking to rebound after losing to the Detroit Lions last Sunday, but they won't have an easy time doing that in Week 5, as the team is playing against the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field and that means Drew Brees will be in town.
The Bears were bound for a letdown after starting 3-0 under new head coach Marc Trestman and while quarterback Jay Cutler had been playing well through the beginning of the season, he was bound for a dud game as well. Cutler passed for six touchdowns and three picks over the first three games of the year, but on Sunday he had four turnovers with three picks and a fumble and while he passed for 317 yards and two touchdowns, the Lions were simply better and now the Bears are about to go on a tough stretch of games with the Saints coming first.
Cutler passed for only 159 yards in the win over the Steelers, but he completed over 66 percent of his passes, his third time going over 60 percent in three games, but Sunday was more like old Jay Cutler, completing 57 percent with three picks. The Saints defense is much improved this season and the secondary is currently ranked in the top five in passing yards allowed per game and it will be a tough test for Cutler and company. Fantasy wise Cutler is still a good start, but owners should be cautious the way the Saints have been playing.
New Orleans is 4-0 and the team has been improved on defense, but the rushing D still gives up yards and that is where Matt Forte could do some damage for the Bears. Another player to watch in fantasy this week is Alshon Jeffery, who has been solid for the team this season as a second wideout and he is also currently the team's second leading rusher with over 50 yards.
Jeffery missed six games during his rookie season and while his numbers are not off the charts this year with 18 catches for 211 yards, he has been very consistent and could continue that for the rest of the season as long as he is healthy. Jeffery is coming off of his best career game with 107 yards receiving on five catches and his 11 targets are promising for fantasy owners as well, as his targets have been increasing in each of the past three weeks.
Jeffery had five catches in the opening win against the Bengals and then dipped down to just one against the Vikings, but over the past three games he has increased his yardage and if the Saints double Brandon Marshall like the Lions did, Jeffery could be in for another solid day.
