The fantasy football schedule is now moving towards Week 6 of the season and with things starting off with the Chicago bears and NY Giants on Thursday night, here are some players to watch out for to start or sit, including Rob Gronkowski, Donald Brown, Da'Rel Scott, Stevan Ridley and Graham Garrett.
Gronkowski has been one of the most frustrating players for fantasy owners and while they realize he is recovering from surgery in the offseason, they are hoping he finally can get on the field in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, which would match up Gronk and his top counterpart in Jimmy Graham. Gronk was considered to be the most dominant tight end option in the league and now Graham has taken that role, but if he returns against the Saints, he could have a big game and it couldn't come soon enough for Tom Brady.
ESPN reported last week that Gronkowski has been able to practice with the team and after missing the whole season so far, he could finally be set to return. Fantasy owners should keep a close eye on the injury report this week to see if the Pats will bring him back and they may have been waiting for this moment, as they hoped he would be 100 percent before coming back onto the field.
The Patriots dropped the game on Sunday against the Bengals and Tom Brady's streak of tossing a touchdown ended and that only made the absence of Gronk even more glaring. Last season he made 55 catches for 790 yards and 11 TDs while missing time and Brady is hoping he can return back to full strength. Some other players to watch out for at the position heading into Week 6 is Jeff Cumberland from the Jets and Graham Garrett for the Texans.
Garrett has been solid over the past couple weeks and he has scored a touchdown in three games this season, including against the Seahawks in Week 4. Last week he had just three catches, but with Owen Daniels likely out for a few weeks after getting injured, Garrett could end up getting more production. This season he has just 15 catches for 141 yards, but with Daniels out, he could be a prime option along with Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins and with three TDs already, he will be a prime red zone threat as well.
Donald Brown, Da'Rel Scott and Stevan Ridley are all players to watch out for, as Ridley did not play last week and he could be an injury concern going forward for the Patriots, a familiar story this season. Brown had some solid production behind Trent Richardson on Sunday, rushing for 37 yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions and he could be a solid backup or handcuff option in deeper leagues with Ahmad Bradshaw injured.
David Wilson was injured, so the Giants re-signed Da'Rel Scott and while they are terrible he could be a decent option in deeper leagues. Adding someone like Brandon Bolden for the Patriots is also a good move with Ridley possibly being out again this week against the Saints.
