Aaron Hernandez Latest News: Eyewitness In Double Homicide Identifies Patriots Tight End As Shooter, Girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins Faces Court Arraignment In October

The Aaron Hernandez murder case involving Odin Lloyd was back in court this week for a pretrial hearing and after a number of motions were ruled on and filed at that appearance, more news about the former Patriots tight end has emerged, including that an eyewitness has identified him as the shooter in a double homicide.

According to Pro Football Talk, FOX 25 in Boston spoke to a man that did not want to be identified who stated that he recognized Hernandez as the man that opened fire in a drive by shooting from July 2012 that resulted in the deaths of Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu. That case, which has not been solved, has been linked to Hernandez after a car fitting the description from that night was found at his uncle's home in Bristol.

Hernandez has not been officially charged or linked to the crime, but a grand jury is looking into the case and the eyewitness said that he "recognized" Hernandez's face after he was arrested for the murder of Lloyd and this could be a good development for the state, as their case involving Odin Lloyd may be falling apart. Their main witness in that case, accomplice Carlos Ortiz, has already started changing his story (and as a past drug user and criminal it might be easy for the defense to discredit him) and on top of that, they have asked the judge in the case to recuse herself.

The grand jury has been looking into the case and police said that Hernandez is being looked at in possible connection with the shooting. The incident took place last summer after the two men were at a nightclub and Hernandez was confirmed by video to be at the same nightclub on that night.

On top of all this, Hernandez will be back in court for the recusal hearing, while his girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins remains charged with perjury. Jenkins will be in court later this month for an arraignment and she could face serious charges since it is a murder case.

"They just came up and started firing for no reason at all," the witness, who was shot in the arm, told FOX 25.  "We never had any trouble.  We were not those kind of people.  We were just having fun."
