The Red River Rivalry game between Oklahoma and Texas has a it of a different feel this year, as the game has Texas fighting for its pride and Longhorns coach MAck Brown fighting for his job security and the game will be in Dallas for the Big 12 matchup starting at 12 pm noon on ABC.
Texas is 2-0 in the conference despite starting 3-2 this season, while Oklahoma is 5-0 and after Texas lost games to Ole Miss and BYU in consecutive weeks, things were put on notice and now they have their annual rivalry game and that could be the last straw for Brown if it turns into an embarrassment. The team opened the season with a win at New Mexico State before losing to BYU and Ole Miss and then after getting by Kansas State, the team benefitted from some referee calls to win against Iowa State on the road in a close matchup and now they have had time to prepare for Oklahoma after having a bye and a Thursday game and this could be an important game for Texas this season, especially if they lose.

Texas has been struggling this season and the team has a tough stretch coming up, as they just played a road game against the Cyclones and now are in a neutral location and then they play two of the next three games away from Texas, including toad matchups against TCU and then against West Virginia with Kansas sandwiched in the middle and depending on how the team finishes the season, this could be it for Brown and there could be a number of big changes for Texas moving forward, especially if they lose some of those matchups, like to a team like Kansas.
The Longhorns have a tough back stretch, as they play three currently ranked opponents in the AP Top 25, including home matchups against Oklahoma State and Texas Tech and then they will finish the season with a game on the road against the explosive offense of Baylor, who are putting up like 70 points per game and that could be a major embarrassment if it goes the wrong way for Texas.
The team is currently ranked 42nd in the nation in passing yards per game and 49th in rushing and they are averaging a bit over 400 total yards per game and they will need that all rolling on Saturday to win against Oklahoma. The team is scoring just over 32 points per game, but the team is ranked 77th in points allowed with nearly 30 per game and they will need to be on to defeat Oklahoma. The Sooners are currently ranked 12th in the nation and the team defense has been stellar, allowing 12 points per game on average and they are coming off of a close 20-17 win against TCU.
