The Aaron Hernandez case was back in court on Tuesday in Fall River in Massachusetts, as the former Patriots tight end's fiancé was arraigned on charges of perjury in the case and Shayanna Jenkins was in the courtroom and pleaded not guilty to the charge after she was accused of lying to a grand jury in the case.

According to the Associated Press, Jenkins pleaded not guilty to the charge of perjury against her in the case and her lawyer called the charge against her client an overreaching one that will not hold up. The report says that Jenkins was accused by the state of lying to the grand jury in the case about destroying evidence and that police said she left the home she shared with Hernandez the day after the murder with a box in a plastic bag covered in baby clothes. The report from the Boston Globe says that she was accused of taking evidence in her sister's car and dumping it somewhere.

The report stated that she said to the grand jury that she did not remember where she drove that day or where she disposed of the box she had. Jenkins was released after the arraignment after the prosecution looked for bail in the amount of $5,000 and that came after she pleaded not guilty to the charge of perjury, which carries a heavy sentence in regards to a murder investigation and she could be facing serious consequences if she is found guilty of lying to the grand jury.

ESPN.com reports that Jenkins was seen taking things out of the house the day after Odin Lloyd was murdered and that Jenkins was also given immunity for her testimony, but she decided to plead the Fifth Amendment to not self-incriminate herself. The report said that Hernandez asked her to "get rid of" something and she did not remember what or where she disposed of it.

Bristol County prosecutor Patrick Bomberg said that Jenkins was seen leaving the house with evidence and that she lied about destroying it to the grand jury. He laid out that she took a box and covered it with baby clothes in her sister Shaneah's car and when she was asked about it, she did not remember where she went, but she said that she was getting baby formula. The Boston Globe reports that she was seen at an ATM later that day in Plainville, although she claimed she did not remember where she went and despite being given immunity, she did not tell the truth, so said Bomberg.
