The Brooklyn Nets are heading into a very anticipated season after the team acquired Boston Celtics veterans Paul Peirce and Kevin Garnett and after some comments from LeBron James about what the two stars said regarding Ray Allen leaving Boston, the former Celtics shot back, making this rivalry into something interesting heading into the season.
According to ESPN.com, Pierce and Garnett answered the comments from James, who said that the two should apologize to Allen for criticizing him for leaving Boston before last season. Garnett said quotes about James worrying about Miami and now his team and Pierce also shot back at the comments and James said earlier that he understands that basketball is a business.
Garnett and Pierce made some pointed comments last season about Allen leaving Boston and now they are gone as well.
Here are the quotes from ESPN:
"Tell LeBron to worry about Miami. It has nothing to do with Celtic business," Garnett said.
"I left Boston?" Pierce said.
James comments: "I think the first thing I thought was, 'Wow, Ray got killed for leaving Boston, and now these guys are leaving Boston,'" James said. "I think it's OK; I didn't mind it. But there were a couple guys who basically [expletive] on Ray for leaving, and now they're leaving.
"That's the nature of our business, man. I don't know what Boston was going through at the end of the day. I know Ray had to make the best decision for him and his family and his career. Doc [Rivers, former Celtics coach], KG and Paul did that as well. You can't criticize someone who does something that's best for their family."
