The Miami Dolphins scandal involving Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin continues to grow and it only got louder after the team lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night football in Week 11 and now after speaking to the media, owner Stephen Ross said that he will meet with Martin on Wednesday of this week to see the lineman face to face.
Ross spoke for the first time publically about the situation and said that he was disgusted with the language that was used by Incognito allegedly and that every voice in the locker room deserves to be heard, meaning that even though no one "claims" that they knew what was going on, his opinion and feels deserve a place and that is a good sign coming from Ross. The owner had plenty to say about Joe Philbin but he did not mention Jeff Irleand's name and that could mean bad news for the general manager, as the team is bad and he reportedly said Martin should have used physical violence rather than leave the team.
Reports like that is bad news for Ireland and on top of that, someone's head will roll after this situation ends and after Ross supported Joe Philbin (which might be a mistake as well), it looks like Ireland will be the one to take the fall for the scandal. Martin will meet with Ross on Wednesday and he is expected to meet with Ted Wells, the man looking into things for the NFL, later in the week. Reports say that Martin is done with the Dolphins and football for the season and Ross likely wants to meet Martin face to face to get his real side of the story away from the media and the attention and it should be interesting to see what news continues to come out.
Ross said that he was very disappointed in the news that he had been hearing, including the language used by Incognito, although he did not mention him by name and now he is also putting together a new group to help with the franchise with Tony Dungy, Don Shula, Dan Marino, Jason Taylor and Curtis Martin.
"I'm going to meet with Jonathan Martin face to face and hear what he has to say," Ross said Monday at Raymond James Stadium before the Dolphins' game against the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "Then, I will deal with it from there. So much has been said about a lot of different things."
