So we have the MLB champions and rookies of the 2013 season, but when will the big awards, like MVP and Cy Young, be announced? Check out the dates and candidates as individual accolades shall be collected soon.
Okay, so we start with the Cy Young Award race.
The 2013 A.L. Cy Young Award winner will be either Yu Darvish of the Texas Rangers, Hisashi Iwakuma of the Seattle Mariners or Max Scherzer of the Detroit Tigers. It might seem like the obvious answer is Scherzer, but Darvish almost collected 300 strikeouts, a task not so easy to accomplish. Scherzer had an incredible season, posting a 21-3 record. For those wondering who Iwakuma is, you either do not have fantasy baseball or a too occupied following your favorite team. In 2013, Iwakuma posted a 14-6 record with a 2.66 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. He plays in Seattle, so a 14-6 record is a pretty big deal.
In the N.L. things are also a bit tough. Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Jose Fernandez of the Miami Marlins and Adam Wainwright of the St. Louis Cardinals will go head-to-head in the battle to claim the year's best pitcher award. Kershaw is a no-brainer, though the 2013 Rookie of the Year, Fernandez will be the true ace of baseball. Had he played for a winning team, Fernandez could have easily racked up 20 wins. Wainwright was the Cardinals' ace all season long and he was pretty effective in the playoffs until he ran into a red hot Boston Red Sox team.

MVP Award Announcement
This one is for the big hitters, solid defenders and team carriers. In other words, the guys who did it all.
In the A.L., the year the Miguel Cabrera is not a favorite to win the award will be the day the Detroit Tigers do not make the playoffs or Cabrera stops hitting dominantly. This guy does not need much of an explanation detailing why he is a candidate. Mike Trout also, like Cabrera, can do it all. Chris Davis was a pure monster in 2013. His name was everywhere this past season, but he could not get his Baltimore Orioles into the playoffs on his own.
In the N.L., Paul Goldschmidt, Andrew McCutchen and Yadier Molina will battle for the MVP award. Goldschmidt has all the power in this bunch, but he, like Trout and Davis, could not get his squad into the postseason. However, McCutchen made history, taking the Pittsburgh Pirates back to the playoffs and Molina led a young pitching staff all the way to the World Series. The Cardinals were only two wins away from winning the championship and Molina was responsible for guiding those youngsters past the Pirates, Dodgers and almost the Boston Red Sox.
