The Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49ers are matching up in one of the most anticipated games on the NFL schedule no Monday night football in Week 12 and the matchup will be on TV live on ESPN starting up at 8:30 pm and streaming from the WatchESPN website from FedEx Field and puts up Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick up against each other.
The Redskins come into the game after dropping their last two matchups on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings and now they will be at home for a nice stretch leading all the way into Week 15 when they go down to Atlanta for a game that pits two very disappointing teams against each other after making the playoffs in 2012. The Redskins have not been able to sustain any type of solid play from week to week and that is why they have no winning streaks this season, but wins mixed in with tough losses, including the win over the Chargers in overtime, which came after a beat down by the Denver Broncos. The Redskins opened the season with three straight losses and after winning over the struggling Raiders, the team lost to the Dallas Cowboys and now they are in the bottom part of the NFC East with the Giants.

The team has not been able to stop anyone on defense this season and they have only allowed less than 20 points in one game this season and that was in the win over the Raiders. The defense has put Robert Griffin in a position where he has to dig out of holes and put up major points every week and while the offense has been solid yardage wise, the protection has not been great and Griffin has been missing on throws this season that he easily made last year and that could be in part due to his knee surgery from the end of the playoffs last year. Griffin is leading the team in passing with 2,700 yards and 14 scores and has helped the team rank first in rushing yards per game, but if he doesn't turn the season around starting on Monday, it could be a long offseason for the Skins.
Mike Shanahan and Griffin have never had the greatest relationship and as the team continues to lose that will be tested, as the media has already sunk its teeth into a rift between the two and will not let it go. Griffin was the main reason why the Eagles game ended the way it did, as he deflected blame off himself yet again when he tossed a terrible interception in the end zone as the Redskins were driving to try and tie the score. Griffin needs to be a better leader and heading into a very tough stretch to finish the season, he will need to improve and it has to happen fast. After playing the 49ers the team has the New York Giants at home in a Sunday night football game and after that the team plays against the previously undefeated Chiefs. The team heads to Atlanta to play the Falcons next and then finishes with the Dallas Cowboys and the Giants again.
The Niners come into the game after having their five game winning streak snapped two weeks ago and now they have lost two in a row to the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints. The team plays the second of two games on the road and then they have some major divisional matchups, as they host the St. Louis Rams and the Seattle Seahawks and then the team hosts the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night football before playing the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17. The game against the Redskins is on Monday night and starts up on ESPN at 8:30 pm.
