The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers are two of the best teams in the NFC and the division rivals will play against each other on Sunday Night Football at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the matchup will be live on NBC starting up at 8:30 pm and it is crucial for New Orleans if they want home field advantage in the playoffs.
The Saints are coming off of a loss on the road to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night football last week and now they have a very tough matchup with the Panthers, who have won eight in a row and are looking like one of the best teams in the entire league and with two games between these two teams in the next three weeks, the division is still in play for Carolina. The Panthers have a top ranked defense while the Saints come in with a top ranked offensive passing unit with over 300 yards per game and the team is ranked fourth in passing defense with 200 yards allowed per game. The team allowed over 300 yards to Russell Wilson last week against the Seahawks and they will have to perform better than that against Newton on Sunday night.

The Saints play against the St. Louis Rams on the road next week before playing the Panthers again and winning this game is crucial to keep the South division title in play and home field advantage as well. The Saints can still catch the Seahawks and they also would like to ensure a home playoff game with a win over the Panthers in these games for the division. The Panthers lost to the Seahawks earlier this season to open the year and the team has now gone since early October without a loss and they will be tough to beat with the way they play defense and the way they run the ball.
The Panthers are ranked in the top part of the league in total yards allowed and they are one of the top ranked teams in rushing yards allowed per game with just 80 and now they come in rushing for over 120 yards this season. The Panthers have talent on both sides of the ball with MVPs Newton and Luke Kuechly and now the team has the chance to go on the road and make some noise and they have been playing great for two months and they are coming off of a win against the Buccaneers that saw Newton rush for over 60 yards and the team next plays against the Jets before getting the Saints again.
