Florida State and Auburn Points Spread: BCS Championship Betting Line For Seminoles and Tigers

Jan 05, 2014 06:48 PM EST

Florida State and Auburn are playing in the BCS National Championship game and the points spread for the game has the Seminoles Favored over the Tigers in the 2014 game and the betting should be mostly on FSU and to open things up, the number was at 6.5 points in favor of the Seminoles, with the spread moving to around nine now before the game starts up on Monday.

Auburn comes in as the underdog team, but they are a strong one at that and after the way they finished the season, picking the winner of the national title game is a near toss up on talent. The Seminoles obviously are stacked with their defense and the Heisman winner in Jameis Winston, but the Tigers have some great players on offense as well in Nick Marshall and Tre Mason and they will be the focus for FSU as they try and shut down the Tigers rushing attack. The SEC has won seven straight championships and Florida State will be looking to end that and the come in 9-0-1 against the spread over their last 10 bowl games according to Sports Illustrated and both Auburn and FSU come into the game winning their last five bowl games.

Despite the fact that Florida State faced some crazy betting lines and point spreads because of how good they were and how weak their schedule was, but the team still went 11-2 against the spread this season and now things should be interesting for people placing bets for the title game on Monday. The game will have to fight some history, as the SEC is going for eight in a row and during that time, the conference has covered the spread and now the two teams come in on winning streaks in the postseason and one of those will end after this game and it comes as Florida State is undefeated on the season and Auburn comes in with one loss.

Florida State falls on both sides of the fence when it comes to offensive and defensive scoring, as they are in the top part of the nation in both scoring on offense and points allowed on defense and one game this season saw the team cover a 58-point spread in the blowout against Idaho that saw the team put up 80 points. The team is allowing just 10 points per game, but they haven't played a team like Auburn yet this season and Auburn comes into the matchup looking to keep going after finishing the season 9-0 straight up and against the spread and with the team averaging over 300 yards rushing per game, that could be whether the game turns for both sides.

The game on Monday night starts up at 8:30 pm ET on ESPN and will be streaming online from the WatchESPN website and is live from Pasadena at the Rose Bowl and this will be the final championship matchup in college football this season. FSU is looking to finish off an undefeated season and Auburn comes in after a miracle win against Alabama in the Iron Bowl that helped set up this game in the first place.
