The Super Bowl 2014 weather forecast is big news this season and with the 5-day set ready to go now that the schedule is moving into Media Day, there is still possible snow in the forecast for Sunday February 2 at MetLife Stadium and temperatures are expected to remain cold in the 30s for the game and could dip lower at the coldest parts of the night when the game stretches into the fourth quarter.
Both teams will have to deal with the elements on Super Bowl Sunday and they are both from cities where harsh weather is the norm, so it won't be a surprise to deal with some low temps on the day of the game. The biggest issue for the players is snow and wind, as that is the biggest determination of how weather will affect the game, as high winds could make the kickers insignificant and could take the biggest strength for the Broncos out of the game in Peyton Manning's arm.
The fans that rail on Manning for not winning in cold weather are misinformed, as he has no trouble in the cold, but it's when the wind starts swirling that he has issues and that could come into play this year. Manning is older than he was when he was with the Colts and with that his arm strength has decreased considerably and while he still can make all the throws, if he has to pass in the wind, Richard Sherman and the Legion of Boom will be ready to pick off some passes. Manning spoke to his brother Eli about the stadium and while it isn't as bad as the Meadowlands and Giants Stadium used to be, the win can still be deadly here, including in a back corner of the end zone where Eli said the wins can take a pass totally off course.
Russell Wilson and Manning have both dealt with rough weather this season and the Seahawks had rain during their playoff games and since they are more of a running team, many feel that they have an advantage over the Broncos in that regard. The Super Bowl likely will set a record as the coldest SB game, as the last one to be this cold was back in 1972 in Tulane when it was 39 degrees and now the weather is expected to be just at 36 as the high.
