Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow could not find his way onto a roster this season after being cut by the Patriots in the preseason, but with the Super Bowl going on with his old team in the Broncos, the question of whether Tebow will be in a training camp with a team has come up and the latest rumors has the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, St. Louis Rams, Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Bills as the likeliest options.
According to Pro Football Talk, Tebow wants to continue pursuing an NFL career while working as an analyst for ESPN and the SEC Network and one unnamed GM at Super Bowl week told reporters that he thinks Tebow will get an invite to training camp, but that does not mean he will be on the roster next season. The GM wanted to keep anonymity because he was speaking about other teams and he said that based on certain situations, Tebow could get an invite and he cited a past relationship with Marc Trestman as a reason with the Bears, while the uncertainty at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings could spark the team to bring in Tebow.
Trent Dilfer worked with Tebow just before his TV announcement was made and he claimed that Tebow is a completely different quarterback from previously and that he has the skills to be a competent backup in the NFL. Tebow flamed out a bit after his time with the Jets, spending weeks as a free agent before the Patriots came calling and after playing against the Giants in a preseason game, he was cut before the season started.
Tebow was drafted by the Denver Broncos, where he led the team to the playoffs and a division title and a win against the Steelers, but once Peyton Manning became available he was sent to NY. The Jets had the chance to do something special with Tebow but instead blamed him for their problems and eventually he was let go, leaving former GM Mike Tannenbaum to say the deal was a "mistake" according to CBS Sports.
Tebow now has to figure out if he has a future in the NFL and as offenses get more complicated and run-scheme oriented, there could be a team that decides to take a chance on him. The only sniff he had was some internal discussions with the St. Louis Rams when Sam Bradford was injured, but that did not amount to anything and he ended up spending the season on the sidelines. Tebow did not score a TD with Jets and now he is looking for another chance to get back into the league as he works on TV covering college football.
