The NFL trade market could start heating up as the NFL draft gets closer and the St. Louis Rams could be in the middle of it, as the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears all could be interested in moving up if someone like Jadeveon Clowney, Teddy Bridgewater or Johnny Manziel is taken by the Houston Texans at number one.
The Rams have the number two pick in the draft after their trade with the Washington Redskins for Robert Griffin III and now they could pull a number of moves, including trading the pick or standings pat and taking someone like Clowney, Sammy Watkins or even a quarterback. ESPN.com reports that the team will consider trading the pick and since five out of the top eight teams need quarterbacks, there could be some action at the top of the draft.
There is no consensus number one pick this season and players like Johnny Manziel, Clowney and Blake Bortles will get consideration and if someone like Clowney falls due to some bad workouts, a team could jump up to get him. Clowney was expected to be the top pick if he came out last season and so far things have not gone that great, as many feel he coasted this season heading into his chance at the NFL and he also put up subpar bench press numbers.
According to USA Today, Clowney only put up 21 bench press reps at 225 pounds and that is not much for a player his size and he is 6-foot-5 and 266 pounds and it ranked among the worst of the defensive linemen. The Rams ranked ninth in rushing yards allowed per game last season and Robert Quinn was fantastic rushing the passer and adding Clowney to that could be huge.
