The Portland Timbers and Chicago Fire are playing on the MLS Soccer schedule on Sunday and the game is streaming from Jeld-Wen Field starting up at 3 pm ET and the two teams are looking to get their first wins of the season and it's the early match on the schedule before Chivas USA hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Timbers are trying to rebound from their playoffs disappointment last season and now they come in after pulling a draw with Philadelphia in the season opener last weekend. The team has a tough slate coming up with Colorado and Dallas before a game against the Seattle Sounders and they will be looking for a positive result on Sunday. In the first matchup of the season with Philadelphia, the team dominated the time of possession and the shots on goal, but it took a last minute score from Gaston Fernandez to pull the draw and now they will try to get their first victory of the season.
Chicago comes into the match after a 3-2 loss to Chivas USA to start the season and they will play against the New York Red Bulls after the Timbers game and then they will travel to play against DC United before the next game against the Philadelphia Union. Philly is at the top of the table to start things after a win and a draw and they have four points, while Houston, Columbus and Toronto are tied for second place. The Timbers will play against Chivas USA coming up as well and they have a set of home games coming in May against Los Angeles and Columbus as well.
The MLS schedule picked up on Saturday with the New York Red Bulls and Colorado and they finished in a draw after NY got a goal from Thierry Henry and the Philadelphia Union finished on top of New England 1-0 and that came before Toronto finished on top of Seattle with two goals from Jermain Defoe, while Clint Dempsey scored one for the Sounders. Houston finished 1-0 over Montreal, while Kansas City and FC Dallas played to a 1-1 draw and Real Salt Lake finished the day with a win against San Jose, who got an early goal from Chris Wondolowski just six minutes in and they couldn't stage a comeback.
