The San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets are facing off on Wednesday night at the AT&T Center and the matchup starts up at 8:30 pm from the NBA League pass and has the Spurs coming in as the best team in the west and the first teams to clinch the playoffs and this is the first of a home and home between the two teams as the postseason gets closer on the schedule.
The Spurs come into the game on a nice winning streak and they have won 14 games in a row and are starting to pull away from the Oklahoma City Thunder and the other teams in the west. During this streak the team sent the Sixers to their 25th straight loss and the team has been playing very well despite Tony Parker being a bit banged up and now the Spurs are getting ready for another postseason run after making it to the NBA finals against the Miami Heat last season.
The team is looking to win a championship as Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili get older and this could be one of the last shots for the team when all three are still major contributors to the team. The Spurs have been playing very well on both ends of the floor and they rank in the top 10 in the league in a number of important categories on both offense and defense. The team is ranked seventh in points per game and first in assists per game and they are fifth in the NBA in points allowed and have been very impressive on the defensive end of the floor.
The Nuggets have been one of the best teams in the league offensively and they will likely miss the playoffs against and they come into the game after a loss against the OKC Thunder that saw Ty Lawson lead with 25 points and seven assists, while Kenneth Faried continued his strong season with 11 boards and he has been very solid all year and has been dealing with trade speculation since last summer.
The team comes into the game at ninth in the NBA in points scored per game and they are averaging over 100 points and are allowing 105 to rank at 28th in the league in points allowed. The team is third in the league in rebounds per game and that will be an interesting battle to watch and they are 11th in assists per game and now the Nuggets and Spurs will face off for the first of two games against each other in a row.
