Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are playing live on the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals schedule on Wednesday and the match comes from Estadio Santiago Bernabéu and streaming live from the Fox Soccer 2Go website at 2:45 pm ET and has Cristiano Ronaldo trying to get his team through to the next round in the UCL.
Real Madrid comes in after a dominating win against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga, but that followed two losses, including El Clasico to Barcelona and Lionel Messi and now they hope to continue their strong play against Dortmund, who have a strong team as well and are coming back after making it to the finals last year against Bayern Munich. Real Madrid is locked in a tight race with Atletico Madrid and Barca in the La Liga standings and they will get another chance at Barcelona later in the schedule, as they play against Messi and company in the Copa Del Rey finals.
These two teams know each other well and it comes after they played last season and that saw Robert Lewandowski dominate with four goals and the team now comes in after losing last year against fellow Bundesliga team Bayern and that came after the 4-3 win on aggregate against Real. The team is looking for a repeat of that this season to get into the next round and now Lewandowski will be out of the mix, as he comes in with a suspension and he will be out of the game for Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp and that means other players will have to step up.
Ilkay Gundogan, Neven Subotic, Jakub Blaszczykowski, Sven Bender and Marcel Schmelzer also will be out and that could tip the scales in the direction of Real, especially with the match coming at home. On the other side, Chelsea will be playing against Paris Saint-Germain and that comes after the matches on Tuesday, which saw Manchester United draw with Bayern and Barcelona pull a tie with Atletico Madrid as they are also in a heated battle in La Liga with Real. Madrid is looking to snag their 10th European Cup and that would be huge for the team and Madrid comes in after taking down another German rival in Schalke and now Ronaldo and Gareth Bale will be the focus as the match picks up on Wednesday night.
Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale have been the top scorers for the team this season and they will be the main focus here and when the Primera division schedule picks up, as they are now third on the table behind Atletico and Barcelona. Dortmund comes in at second on the league table behind Bayern in their league and Lewandowski is a major loss, as he has been the top scorer for the team. The club had a tie against Schalke before the win against VfB Stuttgart and they have been playing very well, losing only to Zenit St Petersburg and that was in the second leg of their match in the Champions League and that allowed them to advance on aggregate.
