The Oakland Raiders have some major decisions to make heading into the NFL draft and a Terrelle Pryor trade to the Minnesota Vikings or Jaguars could be an option if the team looks to draft Jadeveon Clowney, Sammy Watkins or Khalil Mack, as they could trade down if those players are not on the board when they select at number five.
Reggie McKenzie has a number of options he could look at heading into the draft and since the team has just six draft picks this season, they could use to add a few more. The team gave up a pick for Matt Schaub and also gave up a pick last season for Matt Flynn and now that Schaub is there, McGloin and Pryor aren't in the mix to start. According to ESPN.com, the Raiders like having a traditional drop back quarterback and that is why they likely will get rid of Pryor, who has reportedly asked for a trade or release from the team.
The ESPN.com report says that if the Raiders have a trade of worthy value now, they would have done it already and that means they just simply haven't had much interest. Pryor has a particular set of skills and the Philadelphia Eagles looked to be a solid option, but they signed Mark Sanchez and now they are not in need of a backup quarterback for Nick Foles. The Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans and Buccaneers are all in the market for another quarterback and they could be in the mix, but the Raiders will not simply give up Pryor for nothing after using a supplemental pick on him a couple years ago.
Pryor had some great moments last season, but he also was very up and down while splitting time starting with McGloin. Last season Pryor set a franchise record with nearly 600 rushing yards and he ended up with 1798 passing yards, seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season. Schaub now will be the starter and McGloin looks to be the backup after being an undrafted free agent last year. Pryor has asked for a trade or release, but so far there hasn't been an option the Raiders like and they could look to a team like the Buffalo Bills, as they have EJ Manuel and Pryor could serve as a solid backup.
The Raiders have a top five draft pick this season and they likely will not take Johnny Manziel or Blake Bortles, but they are looking at Jadeveon Clowney, Khalil Mack and Sammy Watkins. ESPN.com reports that the team is likely to trade down if those players are missing, especially Watkins. The team wants to get solid value for the fifth pick and if the first four picks take the elite prospects out of the mix, there is a good chance they will trade down and that happened last season as well. The Raiders traded down with the Dolphins and picked DJ Hayden and now they could look to do the same and that will add some draft picks for the event as well for McKenzie.
