The Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds are playing an MLB baseball matchup on Monday and the NL central series game starts up at 7:10 pm ET and is streaming from the MLB.com website and it will be at Great American Ball Park and comes as the team is .500 and looking to move up and the season is off to a solid start and these two teams are looking to stay on the positive side as they chase the Brewers.
The division currently has the best team in the majors, as the Brewers have now won nine games in a row and now they are leading everyone and both the Pirates and the Reds are looking to keep things close while trying to win out this series. Wandy Rodriguez and Homer Bailey will be on the mound for the teams and that is a solid matchup for the pitchers and they will be looking to stay strong so they don't tax the bullpens early in the series.
Rodriguez comes in having lost the first two games he pitched to the Chicago Cubs and that obviously is a disappointment for a team that made the playoffs last season. The Pirates are looking to get back to the postseason after breaking their 20 year streak of losing seasons and now Pedro Alvarez and Andrew McCutchen are looking to break out of some slumps in this series as the game picks up on Monday.
The Pirates come in after a loss on Sunday to the Brewers and now Milwaukee is leading the division and the majors with the best record. Rodriguez comes in 0-3 against Cincinnati over his last six starts and now he will try and turn that around as Joey Votto looks to keep his hot hitting against Rodriguez going. Baily signed a huge extension in the offseason and he started off terribly against the Cardinals and lost both of those starts and now he is looking to bounce back as well.
The Pirates are ranked 24th in the league in runs and 28th in batting average and they will have Gerritt Cole on the mound next and he will going up against Mike Leake at 2-0. The Reds come into the game after a nice win over the Tampa Bay Rays and now they are 4-8 on the season in the NL Central and they are ranked 26th in runs and 23rd in batting average. The team will have Leake next and they both are looking to win on Monday night in Cincy.
