The New York Giants have the number 12 pick in the draft and a new offensive coordinator coming in, meaning names like Mike Evans, Eric Ebron, Marqise Lee, Kelvin Benjamin and Brandin Cooks could be potential targets for GM Jerry Reese to add to the offense for Ben McAdoo and quarterback Eli Manning, especially after losing Hakeem Nicks to the Colts.
The Giants come into the offseason after a rough year in 2013 and while they ended up 7-9 after an 0-6 start, there are still a ton of holes for the team to fill on both sides of the ball. The most glaring hole on offense is at wide receiver and that comes after the team lost Hakeem Nicks to the Colts and while they signed Mario Manningham and also have Reuben Randle ready to step up, Reese wouldn't mind adding more depth after the season Manning had in 2013.
Manning was a shell of himself last season and while the offensive line and rushing game struggled, the 27 interceptions he threw were mostly his fault and he decreased his yards, TDs and completion percentage from the previous season and that was a scary development as well. Manning had surgery in the offseason and that could keep him off the field for a bit, but he is not expected to miss any of the important workouts and that is big with a new coordinator coming in. The team signed Kellen Davis this offseason at tight end, but that really isn't much and that is why many experts like Mel Kiper see the Giants going after someone like Eric Ebron or Jace Amaro in the draft this year.
Ebron could be a pick at 12 with his size and he had solid stats last season at North Carolina and he is a big dude, while Amaro was basically another wideout at Texas Tech and he put up record setting numbers while here and he could be an option as well. The team could get their hands on Mike Evans, but he looks like he has positioned himself as a top 10 pick, but he would be perfect to replace Nicks. Evans has size and speed and last season he showed off his big play ability while averaging over 20 yards per catch on 69 receptions.
Marqise Lee, Kelvin Benjamin and Allen Robinson are the players that round out the top part of the wide receivers class after Evans and Sammy Watkins and they could be in the mix as well. Lee had a down year last season after being a Heisman finalist with the Trojans the year before, while Benjamin has huge size and could be a solid red zone threat after catching over 10 touchdowns last season for Florida State, including the winning one in the national championship game.
ESPN.com also says that the offensive line could be an option in the first round, as Zack Martin or Taylor Lewan could be available, but the team may avoid that after they drafted Justin Pugh last season. The team likes Aaron Donald but that could be too high for him, while CJ Mosley could also be an option at linebacker, but the G-men may avoid that after signing Jon Beason and Mark Herzlich back this offseason.
