Albert Pujols hit home run number 500 on Tuesday night as the LA Angels star reached one of the biggest numbers in baseball history, hitting HR number 499 and the big 5-0-0 against Taylor Jordan of the Washington Nationals and he now is just the 26th player to reach that number and he did it in the same game to make him the only player ever to do that.

Pujols won three MVP awards in the NL with the Cardinals and that is where he hit the bulk of his home runs and now he has 500 and is the first player to reach that number with two home runs in the same game, according to ESPN.com. Pujols is the third youngest to get to 500 after Jimmie Foxx and Alex Rodriguez and now he is looking to add more, as he is close to some of the other names on the list.

Pujols has been off to a much better start than last season and he has eight home runs in the last 13 games and he has been getting hot. Pujols is three months over 34 years old and now he has the chance to catch the newt players on list, one of which is Gary Sheffield. Pujols gave a tip of his cap to fans at the stadium, who cheered him on despite being on the Angels and now there are just 26 players to have hit 500, with 11 coming over the last 15 seasons.

The fan who caught the ball gave it back to Pujols after the same and he happened to be a Cards fan and also, the person who caught the 499 ball gave it back to Pujols as well.

Check here for video of the two home runs.

"It tastes better with a win," Pujols said. "I knew this year, it was going to happen, whether it was tonight, tomorrow, two months from now. So my goal was just to prepare myself every day to try to help this organization win."
