Liverpool and Chelsea are playing a huge game on the English Premier League schedule on Sunday, as the Reds and Blues matchup at Anfield at 9:05 am ET and the game will be streaming live from the NBC Sports Live Extra website and is a very important match on the EPL schedule and for the title, as Luis Suarez and company are leading the standings, while Jose Mourinho's side also has a Champions League semi to look forward to.
Chelsea just lost their first match at Stamford Bridge of the season and it came as Liverpool won last week on the schedule, pushing their lead from two points to five on the league table and now Mourinho has to decide which match is more important this week. Chelsea played a draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semifinals and that will be at Stamford Bridge for the second leg and the Blues have some big decisions to make with players like Eden Hazard dealing with an injury. Liverpool comes into the match after winning away against Norwich City and now they will play against Chelsea and they have two more matches on the schedule after that in the Premier League.
Liverpool finished the season away at Crystal Palace and then at home against Newcastle United and that likely means they will finish with the EPL title and that would be very impressive after Chelsea and Arsenal were also consistent leaders during the season. Liverpool won a big match at home against Manchester City and they have been the highest scoring league by far in the league and Suarez is first in the league in scoring with 30 goals and along with him, Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge are the other leaders on the team and they have scored the most goals at home as well.
Man City has one match in hand on both Chelsea and Liverpool and that could come into play if Chelsea upset the Reds, as they have 80 points in the lead, while the Blues are five points back and Manchester is in third place with 74 points. Liverpool is closing in on the title and it would be the first for Gerrard with the Reds and Man City will be playing away for the next two matches against Crystal Palace and Everton, while the final two matches are home against Aston Villa and West Ham United.
Chelsea comes into the match after pulling a scoreless draw in the opening leg of the Champ League semifinals against Atletico Madrid and before that was the home loss against Sunderland and their last win was away against Swansea City on the road. The club is looking to rebound after that loss at home for Mourinho, while Liverpool is looking to seal their lead atop the league table and they have already qualified for the Champions League next season. arsenal is in fourth on the league table behind the Reds, Blues and Man City and the Gunners are ahead of Everton and Tottenham in the standings, while Manchester United is out of qualifying position.
