NBA Playoffs Standings 2014: Wizards Win Over Indiana Pacers For 1-0 Series Lead

May 05, 2014 09:49 PM EDT

The NBA playoffs standings has the Washington Wizards leading the Indiana Pacers 1-0 in their series after the win on Monday night and the matchup came on the road for the Wiz in the second round and they got off to a good start against a tired Indy team and now they could have the inside track to winning the series after stealing home court advantage from the Pacers on Monday night.

The series picks up with game 2 on Wednesday and that will be a crucial matchup for the Wizards and the Pacers, as Indiana looked very vulnerable in the first series against the Atlanta Hawks and now that is coming into play again. Many have picked the Wizards to win the series based on the way that the Pacers are coming in and Bradley Beal led the way for the Wiz as they got their footing in the second round of the playoffs. The Wizards dominated the first quarter and that ended up being the difference in the game and they got the win 102-96 after Beal scored 25 points.

Marcin Gortat had 15 rebounds in the game and John Wall led the way with nine assists and while the Pacers played well for stretches, it wasn't enough to get the win. The team lost Game 1 of the last series and they got 12 rebounds from David West and five assists from Paul George and the team appears to be struggling with the fact that they do not have a legit point guard leading the way. The Pacers now have to come back strong in Game 2 and people are starting to realize that the Wizards are a talented team that can play with the rest of the western conference.

The Wizards are playing with confidence and they got the win ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder and LA Clippers, who play Game 1 of their series on Monday night as well. The schedule for Tuesday has the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat in the early game while the Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs play in Texans for Game 1 of their second round series.
