The Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics are playing a doubleheader on Wednesday at the O.co Coliseum and the matchup is a big one for the M's as they try to stay a winning team and they now have won nine of 11 games on this streak and are second place in the AL west and the game starts at 3:35 pm ET and then the second one is on a half hour after that ends and the matchup has Felix Hernandez on the mound against Dan Straily.
Hernandez has started the two games that the Mariners have lost over this streak and he is their best pitcher and now he has the chance to bounce back after three shaky outings and that came after he started the season 3-0. Hernandez has pitched very well against Oakland in the past and he started the season 3-0 with a 1.91 ERA and 39 strikeouts and after winning over Oakland earlier in the season, he improved to 5-0 with a 1.74 ERA in his last eight against the team on the road and he will try and do that again.
The Mariners won 8-3 against the Athletics on Tuesday and that game was close for the start until the Mariners cracked it open and they got some nice defense from Brad Miller in the ninth and that helped close things out. Roenis Elias got the win and he has been very good this season, including in his last start when he beat the Yankees in the Bronx and now the Mariners are playing some of their best baseball and after losing eight games in a row at one point, they are now over .500 and they have the chance to keep that going with two games on Wednesday.
The second game will be started by Erasmo Ramirez and Drew Pomeranz and the Mariners come in looking to keep up their hot play. The team is 17th in the league in runs and 23rd in batting average and they have started to heat up a bit, while the pitching has been solid while dealing with injuries to Hisashi Iwakuma, James Paxton and Taijuan Walker.
