The Aaron Hernandez arraignment is live in court on Wednesday and there is a live stream from ESPN and WatchESPN for the court video on SportsCenter as the former Patriots star answers to double murder charges and he is expected to plead not guilty and his girlfriend fiance Shayanna Jenkins could be in attendance with his mother Terri Hernandez in the Suffolk Superior Court for the arraignment for the deaths of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.
The double murder charges for Hernandez are on top of the charges for the Odin Lloyd killing and this murder occurred a year before that incident. According to the prosecution, Hernandez was the trigger man in a drive by shooting that followed an incident at a nightclub in July of 2012. The two men and Hernandez had a "random encounter" at the club that night and police said that Hernandez followed the men in an SUV and later shot at them from the car.
Three people survived the shooting and two were killed, while one other man was hit was a bullet from the gun and he identified the shooter as someone resembling Hernandez. The SUV was later tracked down to Hernandez's uncle's home in his hometown of Bristol and that is one reason why he is tied to the crime. The murder weapon was never found in the Lloyd case, while the gun in this crime was later found in a separate traffic stop. Now Hernandez is facing three counts of first degree murder after the Lloyd killing and this could make his defense very difficult.
If the incident turns out to be Hernandez's doing, it means that he signed a $40 million extension with the Patriots after being a double murderer. Hernandez is expected to plead not guilty like he did in the Lloyd case and while no official connections have yet been made, some speculate that Hernandez killed Lloyd to cover up his involvement in the double shooting, implying that Lloyd knew about it. A clear motive for the Lloyd killing has not been established and this narrative could be what police go with. Hernandez has to deal with three different murder charges on top of various gun charges he is facing and that means no matter what happens, he likely will serve jail time even if he gets off for the Lloyd murder, which has a ton of evidence, but many say it's circumstantial.
The 24 year old likely will be in jail or at least awaiting trial for some time, as he has not even had a date set in the Lloyd case and now this trial will come after that. Hernandez likely will remain in jail all that time and he is unlikely to get bail anytime soon after being locked up since last summer. Hernandez and his defense team have said that a press conference does not make their client guilty and that they will fight the charges in court. Hernandez and Lloyd were connected through his fiance Shayanna Jenkins, as Lloyd was dating Jenkins' sister at the time of his death.
