Jul 07, 2014 09:44 AM EDT

The Tour De France 2014 cycling event is live through July and NBC and the NBC Sports Network has all the coverage from the NBCSN live extra website and this comes as Stage 3 is next up in the race and after Marcel Kittel of Germany took the first stage and Italy's Vincenzo Nibali won the second stage and this one goes from Cambridge to London and is one of the more flat but challenging areas and it begins past 8 am ET on TV.

The second stage was a hilly portion of the race and it went through Yorkshire and it came with plenty of action, as there was a number of tough spots through Northern England as the race made its way South. The next stage finishes in London and France is not far ahead and this will be the last stage in the United Kingdom before the riders hit the French soil and that is when things will really pick up. The route through London goes through Olympic Park and goes from the East End to the West End and will also pass by Buckingham Palace and Chris Froome may be one of the favorites for this stage.

Team Sky is one of the groups to watch and the Tour De France is running for the 101st time and has 198 riders across over 20 teams and will go into the end of July. Froome said he felt good after the first two stages and some of the more treacherous terrain awaits the riders with the Alps and Pyrenees coming later on. There were some crashes over the first two days and fans lined up all over the UK to follow the start of the route and this stage 3 course has 155 kilometers to go and that will be a bit of a break for the riders based on the way the terrain is.

The race started up on July 5 and goes through the month and goes over 2,700 miles and starts in Britain before going to France and this is the 101st running of the event.  The route ends on July 27 and the next stage comes for Le Touquet-Paris-Plage to Lille and that will be one of the most exciting as things head to France. Froome and his team are some of the favorites and there is a high amount of expectations for NBC as things push into the latter stages.

Andre Greipel and Peter Sagan have shots here and the third stage is an important one and it has no major climbs and that could give some teams a nice boost. The NBC Sports Live Extra website has the coverage and it starts up at 8 am this week and it also has replays later in the day. The tour comes from Cambridge and heads down to London for one of the most anticipated parts of the event.
