The PGA Tour leaderboard for the John Deere Classic has Zach Johnson in the lead along with Rory Sabbatini and Brian Harman at eight under in Illinois and this is the last tournament on the schedule before the British Open and the second round starts up early on Friday and the live stream coverage is online from the tour.
Zach Johnson, Rory Sabbatini and Brian Harman are the leaders and they will start the day in the afternoon, while Jerry Kelly has started off well and is moving up. Ricky Barnes and David Toms are moving up as well and the finish here could be a close one. Last year Jordan Spieth won this tournament in a playoff over Johnson and now he is looking to get back into the mix after opening with an even round. Spieth ended up coming back and rallying after being over par and now he is looking to move up on the leaderboard.
Johnson has been playing well this year and he is looking to keep that going and he has played very strong at this course before, including in the years before. Johnson had a bogey free round and he is looking to follow that up with a solid day on Friday. Johnson is looking to stay in the mix ahead of the Open Championships and he has a good chance to do that.
Tiger Woods is not playing at this tournament and he is coming into the British Open next week after missing the cut at his last tournament. Woods came back and played in the Quicken Loans tourney to get back into the swing of things and while he was rusty, he said he felt good and now he is ready for Royal Liverpool, a course that he has won on before as he tries to snap his major streak at the Open Championship.
Woods has had a rough year after winning five times on tour last season and now he is looking for his first win and his first major in years. Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy are playing in the Scottish Open and Mc is playing well to start, as he was leading after the first round. McIlroy is looking to win this major, while Mickelson is coming in after winning this and the Open last year. Mickelson had a rough finish in the US Open, but he is ready to get back into the swing of things and he will be one of the favorites.
