The Texas Rangers and NY Yankees are playing live on the MLB schedule on ESPN on Monday night and the matchup from Yankee Stadium is an important one for New York and starts at 7 pm ET after the team swept the Reds and now they are looking to keep things going as Shane Greene takes the mound and the Yanks are looking to beat up on one of the worst teams in baseball.
The Yankees are piecing things together with the massive amount of injuries they have this season and they have been getting it done in the rotation without CC Sabathia and Masahiro Tanaka. Chase Whitley has played well and Greene comes in at 2-0 and now the Yankees need to beat up on a bad team in the Rangers, as they have just 39 wins on the season and have been terrible. The rotation is Yu Darvish and the single A all-stars and Nolan Ryan would say that this is a long time coming after the way he was treated and Jon Daniels took over.
The Yankees are right there in the division and they are also alive in the wild card and getting a win here would be big for their chances in the postseason. The Yankees are ranked 18th in runs and they have not been getting nearly enough hitting, but Jacoby Ellsbury is doing enough and now Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann need to heat up as well. The team is ranked 16th in batting average and 19th in on base percentage and the team is also in the middle of the pack in the pitching ranks.
Chase Whitley is next up for the Yankees and the team will try and get a second straight sweep after winning over the Reds. David Robertson got the win in an exciting game for the Reds and now the Rangers come in looking to get on the right track. The team is 20 games under .500 and their season is over while dealing with a ridiculous amount of injuries. The Rangers are ranked 12th in the league in runs and sixth in batting average, but their pitching has been a mess and they are last in the league in all major categories and second to last in ERA.
