The NBA offseason is moving along with Kevin Love trade rumors and heading into 2014, names like LaMarcus Aldridge, Ricky Rubio, Marc Gasol, Klay Thompson, DeAndre Jordan, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, Luis Scola, Brook Lopez and Tyson Chandler could be options on the trade block, as most of those players are heading towards free agency and if deals don't get done this season, they could be potential targets for the teams like NY Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns or Sixers among others.
This summer the trade talk is about Love and this season it likely will include Rajon Rondo as well as names like Ricky Rubio, Gasol and Aldridge. According to the NY Post, the NY Knicks are looking at Gasol as a potential free agent option in 2015, as they think he can be a perfect compliment for Carmelo Anthony as the team tries to build a winner. Phil Jackson went after his bro Pau Gasol this offseason and now Marc could come in and take over for Tyson Chandler after he was traded this offseason.
Aldridge is a name to keep an eye on and while the Portland Trail Blazers want to keep him and have offered him a max contract, things can change between now and next summer. According to ESPN.com, Aldridge was the subject of trade talks last summer and that came before the Blazers had a great season and made the playoffs, winning a series along the way. On top of that, Aldridge had his best season and also broke out with back to back 40 point games in the playoffs.
Aldridge factored into the MVP voting for the first time and averaged 23.2 points and 11.1 rebounds last season and now he could be in line for a massive deal. Aldridge is not looking to sign the extension now, as he is in line for a max deal on the market this offseason from the Blazers. Aldridge signed a five year extension worth $65 million and now he could make nearly double that on his next deal.
Paul Millsap has his deal up come after next season, while DeAndre Jordan also has the chance to be a free agent along with Tyson Chandler. Those players have one year left on their deals and Al Jefferson and Brook Lopez can also become free agents with player options. Kevin Love is in that same boat if he is not traded and he will be the top named played on the market if he makes it that far.
Love has been the subject of heavy trade speculation all offseason and now the Bulls and the Cavaliers are going after him along with the Warriors. The Cavaliers are willing to deal Andrew Wiggins, but the Warriors are not willing to deal Thompson yet. The teams are moving closer to a deal, but Minnesota wants to offload Kevin Martin as well and that could make it a three team deal or it will just delay things until the Cavaliers get the pieces they need to make a move.
