Manchester United had a tough season last year in the Premier League and now they are hopeful for a rebound after making a number of big moves this offseason. The team signed a bunch is new names and they also have a new manager in Louis van Gaal, who just took his Netherlands team to a third place finish in the World Cup in Brazil. Van Gaal replaces David Moyes after a horrible season and he came in after Ryan Giggs took over at the end.
Manchester United had very disappointing campaign last year, but there is plenty of hope for optimism now and Rooney said he is excited to play for van Gaal. Rooney teammate Robin can Persie got to play for the manager in the World Cup and he was very effective, scoring numerous goals and now his tactics could really open things up for the Red Devils. The team has a new kit and a billion dollar deal with Chevy and that should allow the team to spend even more in the future.
Man United comes in after playing very well during their last MLS run, winning all the matches they played and allowing just one goal during that time. The Rose Bowl should be packed, as the US still has some World Cup fever and it's not very often that a team like Man United plays at the Rose Bowl. The World Cup final in 1994 was in the stadium and the team should be ready to go. The Galaxy come in playing well and they are off a loss against Sporting Kansas City and one player everyone knows and has English connections is Robbie Keane.
Man United has high expectations after last season and Keane has the chance to play against some old opponents and this is the first match for Van Gaal taking over. While this is not a real match and is just a preseason warmup, van Gaal wants to put his mark on the team as things start up. The Galaxy is fourth in the west in the conference and they have 27 points in 17 games this season.
