NBA Free Agent Rumors: Toure Murry Signing With Utah Jazz As Cleveland Cavaliers Interested?

The Utah Jazz are looking at signing free agent Toure Murry this summer and he is close to signing a two year deal with the team and it comes after the Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, NY Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers all may have been interested in the point guard and now it looks like he will be joining rookie Dante Exum out west.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Jazz and Murry are close on a two year deal and Marc Stein is reporting on ESPN that it would be for $2 million. The Miami Heat showed interest in Murry earlier in the offseason, while the NY Knicks and Indiana Pacers were also potential options after he was in New York last season. Murry did not get on the court much last year and the Knicks likely aren't looking to add another guard, as they already have Iman Shumpert, JR Smith Jose Calderon and Shane Larkin as well as Pablo Prigioni.

The Jazz have a young roster that is full of potential and now they are looking to add Murry to the mix and this comes after the team signed Gordon Hayward back after he got an offer from the Charlotte Hornets. On top of Hayward, the team also has Dante Exum, Trey Burke as well as Rodney Hood, Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter and that is a strong core of players to build around. The team was one of the worst in the NBA last season and they only won 25 games and that gave them a lottery pick, which they used on Exum.

Utah ranked 29th in the league last season in points per game and they were 18th in points allowed and now they have a new head coach and the chance to show some improvement. Burke is a solid player and Hayward led the team in scoring with over 16 points per game, while Derrick Favors was the rebounding leader at nearly nine per game.
