Sam Bradford Trade Rumors: Mark Sanchez or Ryan Mallett Targets For St. Louis Rams, Houston Texans After Injury?

Mark Sanchez has come up in trade rumors along with Ryan Mallett for the St. Louis Rams after the team lost Sam Bradford to an injury and now that they have Shaun Hill starting, the team may look to trade for the Eagles backup, while the Houston Texans also could be interested in making a move for Sanchez or Mallett depending on how the final week of the preseason shakes out.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Rams have interest in Sanchez and while no deal is imminent, something could happen this week as the season gets closer to starting. Bradford was coming off of an ACL injury and looked to be fully healed, but he suffered another injury to the same knee in the preseason and now will be out for the season. The Texans also could be in the market for a QB and as cut downs come, these teams will keep an eye on the free agent market. Mallett and Sanchez are the two biggest names to come up and Mallet could be on the cutting block as roster cut downs happen if the Patriots can't trade him. Sanchez previously worked with Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer and that is one reason why he could be a target.

Sanchez signed with the Eagles after his release by the Jets and he has been very solid in the preseason and that is why he is receiving some attention on the trade market. Sanchez has been very accurate and has looked very comfortable in the new offense from Chip Kelly that he is in. Sanchez played well for Schottenheimer when he was with the Jets and he could come in and start for the Rams over Shaun Hill, who has 13 starts in his time with the Rams and the Niners.

Pro Football Talk reported on the interest from the Rams, with Jeff Fisher saying that the team was looking at Sanchez as a backup with experience. Bradford is now out with an ACL and his Rams future is up in the air and so is his NFL future. Bradford was injured in the game against the Browns and it comes after he was knocked out last season in October and now he has to rehab again and that could be very tough.

Bradford threw for over 1,600 yards last season with 14 touchdowns and four picks and he has just over 11000 yards in his career with 59 touchdowns. Bradford is now out and he has missed 49 games over his first five seasons and now the Rams have to wonder whether they should have taken a QB with their first round pick this past year after passing up on Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles.

The Bills and Texans also could look at making a move for Sanchez, but right now it looks like the Rams will be the team to do something at QB. Sanchez has looked very good in three preseason games and he has the chance to build on his play this summer as he hits free agency next year. Sanchez is the main target for the Rams and if they don't pull off a deal before the season starts, the team could look at a trade once the year begins.
