Mark Sanchez Trade Rumors: St. Louis Rams, Houston Texans, 49ers Options After Sam Bradford Injury?

Mark Sanchez has been mentioned in trade rumors this summer after his strong preseason and the St. Louis Rams could be an option after losing Sam Bradford to an injury, while teams like the Houston Texans, 49ers and Bills also could be interested, as they are dealing with some issues at the backup QB spot, although Sanchez has said that he is happy where he is now in Philly.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Rams have said they are not currently looking at trades to replace Bradford, while Sanchez has tried to downplay the trade talk, saying that he is happy in his situation in Philadelphia. Sanchez has played very well this preseason and he has looked very comfortable in the offense from Chip Kelly and that is one reason he has come up in rumors. Another reason for the Rams connection apart from the Bradford injury is due to the fact that he had past success with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

Bradford dealt with a knee injury last season and now he has injured the same ACL and will be out for the rest of the season, a huge hit for the Rams. Bradford has missed a ton of time over the past few years and he has now missed 49 games in the first five years he has been in the league and that will make it tough for the Rams to keep things going. Bradford made his second start of the preseason in the game when he was injured and he was 4-of-9 for 77 yards and that was his comeback after getting injured in October of last year against the Panthers.

The Buffalo Bills have been unhappy with their backup play according to Pro Football Talk and that could lead to the team making a deal. The Texans have also been mentioned in trade rumors with Ryan Mallett, but so far for now no deal has been close to going down. Sanchez has been playing very well this preseason and while he has said that he is fine where he is, the Rams likely will take a look at him due to the Schottenheimer connections.

Bradford threw for over 1,600 yards last season with 14 touchdowns and four picks and he has just over 11000 yards in his career with 59 touchdowns. Bradford is now out and he has missed 49 games over his first five seasons and now the Rams have to wonder whether they should have taken a QB with their first round pick this past year after passing up on Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles.

The Bills and Texans also could look at making a move for Sanchez, but right now it looks like the Rams will be the team to do something at QB. Sanchez has looked very good in three preseason games and he has the chance to build on his play this summer as he hits free agency next year. Sanchez is the main target for the Rams and if they don't pull off a deal before the season starts, the team could look at a trade once the year begins.
