MLB Standings 2014: AL and NL Wild Card Playoff Race and Division Leaders September 1

The MLB Standings in the AL and NL for 2014 are getting very tight in the wild card and division races and now teams like the Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels, LA Dodgers, Kansas City Royals, Washington Nationals, Milwaukee Brewers. St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves are all in playoff position or contention heading into September.

The AL has the Baltimore Orioles leading the east and they have pushed the Yankees and Blue Jays back, while the Royals are now leading the central over the Detroit Tigers. The west is tight and now the Angels have a two game lead over the Oakland Athletics, while the Mariners are 7.5 games back and they have series coming up against the A's and LA this month.

The NL East has the Washington Nationals in control over the Atlanta Braves, while the Brewers are leading the Cardinals and the Pirates. The LA Dodgers are leading the NL West and they have a nice lead over the Giants.

The American League wild card has the Oakland A's in the first spot, while the Seattle Mariners and Tigers are battling with the Yankees and Indians for the second spot. The NL is close as well with the Cardinals and Giants, while the Atlanta Braves are just a game out.
