ESPN College GameDay is back for the 2014 season and the Game Day crew will be in Dallas on Saturday as the Florida State Seminoles take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys for the opening game of their season and that will be on ABC, while the show can be seen on WatchESPN staring up past 9 am ET before the game at AT&T Stadium with Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard.
There were a number of options for the crew this weekend, including Michigan, UCLA and Alabama, but going with FSU and OK State in Dallas was a pretty obvious option. Jameis Winston was able to escape rape charges and ended up winning the Heisman Trophy and now Florida State comes in as the national champions and they have a nice test against OSU from the Big 12. FSU is considered one of the favorites this season and they should win the ACC again.
Winston is a Heisman candidate again and since he got away with a serious crime, he should be able to take that confidence on the field this season as he tries to win a second straight trophy. The GameDay crew will make some great stops this season and another matchup they could one day be at for FSU is the Notre Dame game as well as Clemson, but they try and avoid going twice in that stretch of time.
Florida State comes in after going 14-0 last season and they were undefeated in the ACC and now they have Winston coming back after he passed for over 4,000 yards, but he will be without one of his leading receivers in Kelvin Benjamin. The team was 5-0 against teams in the top 25 and after playing against OK State they will have an easy game against the Citadel. Honestly, the FSU schedule is not a championship teams schedule, as they have only two ranked teams as of right now with Clemson and Notre Dame.
The team doesn't have as tough a schedule as other top teams and they come in as number one. The team ends the season with Florida and they also have game against Miami, Louisville and Syracuse. The team has the chance to repeat and they start with Oklahoma State and the Cowboys have an easy schedule to start as well, with Missouri State next and then UTSA before playing against Texas Tech. The team then has Iowa State before road games with Kansas and TCU before a home matchup with West Va and then the team has Kansas State.
The end of the season is tough, as they have Texas and then road games with Baylor and Oklahoma. The GameDay crew is ready for the season and so is Winston and this time he might even stay out of police reports since the TPD loves FSU anyway.
