The Ohio State Buckeyes and Navy are playing live on the NCAA college football schedule on Saturday and the game is streaming online and on TV from the CBS Sports Network as OSU starts their season at M&T Bank Stadium without Braxton Miller and it starts up at 12 pm noon ET as the Big Ten favorites get things going in 2014 under Urban Meyer.
Losing Miller is tough after the strong season he had last year and the team also has Carlos Hyde gone to the NFL and that means his 1500 yards from last season are also gone and they will need players to step up for him and Miller if the team has any hopes of winning the Big Ten. The team is on the road for Navy to open the season and they will have a big game next against Virginia Tech, while Kent State is next before Cincy and then the team has a road game against Maryland. The first part of the schedule is tough and the team also has some strong games in the second half and Meyer will have to do one of his best coaching jobs to get this done without Miller.
Ohio State ends the season with a game at home against Michigan and they led into that with their toughest stretch. The team has the Fighting Illini heading into the Michigan State game and that will be on the road in East Lansing and that is the top matchup of the season, while Minnesota is next on the road after that. Indiana is the second to last game on the season and that will be at home, while the Wolverines game could be huge right at the end to finish the season.
Miller is out after being the starter for the past three seasons and while he will be out for the season, he had successful surgery and now he is working to get back together heading into the season. Miller may return and now JT Barrett will be the quarterback in his place and he comes in as a redshirt freshman and that should make things very interesting, while Cardale Jones will be his backup and he has very little experience as well. Last season the team went 12-2 after their undefeated season and they went 8-0 in the Big Ten and they also were undefeated in their division, although they were just 2-2 against the top 25.
