The Fantasy Football Week 3 matchup schedule is here and names like AJ Green, Vernon Davis, Arian Foster, Joique Bell, Shane Vereen, Jordan Cameron, Robert Griffin III, DeAngelo Williams and Eric Decker are all dealing with injuries and some are risky starts this week and that means backups and free agents will need to be plugged in for some fantasy football owners.
AJ Green is dealing with a toe injury and fantasy owners should be cautious with him, as the Bengals have a bye week coming up and that means he likely will be out. Mohamed Sanu had a great game coming in for Green last week and he could step up again for Andy Dalton. Vernon Davis is hobbled after the tough game on Sunday night for the Niners and he could be at risk of not starting. Davis did not practice in the middle of the week and he has a deep bruise and could be held out.
Arian Foster is injury prone and he has a hamstring issue to deal with and he is hoping to get going, as the Giants have been a mess and that is a good matchup for him. Alfred Blue will likely get some carries if he is limited and fantasy owners should keep an eye on him through the week. Vereen is dealing with a shoulder injury and that gave way to Stevan Ridley last week and he had a monster game and could have one again as the Pats make their home debut.
The Lions have Joique Bell and Reggie Bush both hobbled a bit and Bell is limited with a knee injury in practice and while he is expected to play, he may not get a ton of snaps against the Packers. Jordan Cameron is dealing with an injury and the Browns have been mum so far about him and while he returned to practice, his shoulder injury could keep him out. Cameron missed last week and now he could be limited even if he does play after sitting out against the Saints.
Bell is a player to keep an eye on, because he is a strong PPR starter and if he misses time, fantasy owners will have to scramble a bit. Bell comes in after going for 36 yards on 10 carries last week and he also added six catches for 61 yards and that is where his value comes from. The Lions play against the Packers and as long as he is starting, fantasy owners should play him. Vereen is another big PPR value player and the Patriots have a solid matchup with the Oakland Raiders this week and he could be back after not doing much work against the Vikings, going for 40 yards on six carries.
AJ Green has been one of the best receivers in football since being drafted and he has missed just one game in his career and now he could be out Sunday. Green played against the Falcons but left after six plays and now he could be held out for his foot to heal up since the Bengals have a bye week coming up. Green did not register a catch on Sunday and he comes in sixth six catches for 131 yards and a TD this season so far after going for 98 catches for 1426 yards and 11 TDs last season, all career bests.
