New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter finished his final home game with a dramatic touch, knocking in the game winning run with a walk-off hit after David Robertson blew the save against the Baltimore Orioles and that gave Jeter a dream ending to his Bronx career.
Jeter came up to bat in the ninth inning after Robertson gave up two home runs to let the Orioles tie the game and with a runner on second, number 2 came up to the plate and hit the game winning single. Jeter had not had a walk off hit in seven years and while the Yankees are not going to the playoffs, this is a way for him to end his Bronx career.
Jeter said that he would play in Boston for the final three games out of respect to the fans and the rivalry, but he likely will not play at shortstop. Jeter had the game winning RBI in the game and he also had the go-ahead run earlier in the game. Jeter has been hot over the final stretch of games and he is now on how way to retirement after a magical finish.
Jeter admitted about how the game ended: "I wouldn't have believed it myself."
