The Oakland Raiders are coming into a bye in week 5 with Derek Carr injured and while Matt Schaub is also there to start, Carr said he should be fine in Week 6 and that is good news for fantasy owners heading into the matchup, as players like James Jones, Maurice Jones-Drew, Darren McFadden and Mychal Rivera have the chance to put up solid numbers in matchups despite the team being 0-4.
The Raiders fired their head coach and now they are looking to just get a win coming out of the bye week and this comes after the Miami Dolphins torched the team in London. According to Pro Football Talk, Carr said that he should be fine to start in Week 6 after leaving the game against the Dolphins. Carr is dealing with a high ankle sprain and an MCL sprain and he could be back for week 6 since the Raiders have a bye this week. The team has Matt Schaub, but he was away for the past two games while dealing with a family situation and they also have Matt McGloin, who played for Carr when he left last week.
The Raiders want Carr back, as they see him as the QB for the future and that also could greatly help the offense. With Carr or Schaub in the lineup, James Jones, Maurice Jones-Drew, Darren McFadden and Mychal Rivera are all solid fantasy starts in Week 6. The Raiders have had issues on offense and overall, but those names have the chance to shine, especially Jones, who has been the best receiver for the Raiders this season.
Carr has been up and down to start his career and while the Raiders traded for Schaub this offseason, he has not been able to get a chance to play for the Raiders. McGloin started games last season and has looked good in stretches, but overall he has not been great for the Raiders. Carr has 734 yards this season and four TDs with four picks and he could be on the bench for Week 6 when the team comes back if he is not healed up. Schaub had a tough season in 2013 with just 10 Tds and 14 interceptions and he could get his first chance with the Raiders if Carr can't go.
McFadden and Drew have been up and down as well and Drew is coming back from an injury, while McFadden rushed 11 times for 40 yards in the loss against the Dolphins. Drew has been considered the starter, but both players have been getting a decent amount of carries and right now McFadden has 45 carries for 151 yards this season. McFadden has made 11 catches as well and the Raiders would love it if he could stay healthy, which he has done so far in 2014 after missing time last season.
Drew has played in two games this season and he has 15 touches overall for just 26 yards and he is looking for his breakout game. Drew dealt with a hand injury and now he is back and after being off in Week 5, he has the chance to come back and get things going in Week 6 with McFadden. James Jones has been the best overall fantasy option and he is a solid start next week.
