The 2014 NLDS is live on the radio and on TV from ESPN and Fox Sports as the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals matchup in the National League Division Series and the baseball matchup has two of the best pitchers in the NL with Clayton Kershaw and Adam Wainwright on the mound and Game 1 on Friday starts up past 6:30 pm ET on Friday.
The matchup between the two teams is one of the best in the playoffs and this is the first time in years that 20 game winners are facing off in the NLDS. The Cards and the Dodgers each have their own ace coming in after fantastic seasons and Wainwright comes in at third in the league in ERA, while Kershaw put together one of the best seasons ever and he likely will be winning his third Cy Young in four seasons. The Cards pitching can match the Dodgers, but the hitting is all LA and while St. Louis has been better the past few weeks, the Dodgers were stacked all season.
The Dodgers have Kershaw coming in with an ERA under two and he is looking to keep things going in the playoffs. The Dodgers have come close to getting through the playoffs the past few years, but they have not been able to put it all together and now the two best pitchers in the NL will meet in LA to see who will make it through. Kershaw led the league in ERA for the fourth straight season and he comes in with a 10-2 record at home as well.
The Cardinals won over the Dodgers last season in the playoffs in the NLCS and Kershaw was rocked in that game last season and now he gets the chance to get some revenge. Adrian Gonzalez, Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp all know what's at stake and after Kemp missed the playoffs last season with injuries, he will be looking to continue his late hot hitting into October. The Dodgers come into the game after rating in the top 10 in most offensive categories, including runs, batting average and slugging percentage.
The team was also first in the league in on base percentage and they were in the top 10 across the board in pitching, including ERA, quality starts and WHIP. The dodgers won the NL West this season and they took over the Giants in the middle of the year and never looked back and now they could make it through to play those Giants. The Cardinals bounced past the Brewers and never looked back either and the Brew Crew looked like a playoff lock before their major slump.
The Cardinals won their final game of the season against the Diamondbacks and now they come into the game with a chance to win on the road for an upset in Game 1. The Game 2 matchup has Zack Greinke against Lance Lynn and that is another tough pitching matchup for the Cards.
