The New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals are playing live on Sunday night football in Week 5 of the NFL season and the game is on NBC and streaming from the NBC Sports Love Extra website at 8:30 pm ET as Tom Brady takes on AJ Green and the undefeated Bengals at Gillette Stadium and this comes after a tough loss for the Pats last week against the Chiefs.
The Bengals have made the playoffs the last three years and they are being called a sleeper Super Bowl pick and now they hit the road for a huge early AFC game. The East division is still wide open and after all the turmoil stemming from last game, the Patriots would like to get a win and a solid performance on Sunday night. Brady was harassed all night by the Chiefs on Monday night football and he ended the game on the bench for Jimmy Garoppolo once things got out of hand.
The team has a division game coming up next and with the Jets playing terrible and the Dolphins up and down, the Patriots are still right in the mix. The Bills won at the last second over the Lions and they are on the schedule next for the Patriots. The team is currently 2-2 and they started off the season with three road games in the first four weeks. The team now flips that a bit and has four home games over the next five weeks and that gives them a chance to get back on track.
The Patriots have the Bengals before a road matchup with the Bills and then the team has three home games against the Jets, Bears and Denver Broncos. The bye week comes after that and then the team has a national game on Sunday night against the Colts. The Jets game will be on a Thursday and that means they will have two divisional games in five days and also a long break going into the matchup with the Bears.
The team is currently ranked first in the league in passing yards allowed per game, but other than that they have had trouble doing anything on a consistent basis. The Patriots are 30th in passing yards per game and 23rd in rushing yards per game and now they have one of the best teams in the league coming in with the Bengals. After the bye week the team has three of four on the road and that includes the Colts and Packers and the team also has to go to San Diego and they are currently leading their division.
The AFC East could be up in the air until the final month of the season, as the Patriots do not play another division game after the early Jets matchup until Week 15. The Pats end the season against the Dolphins, Jets and Bills and those games could decide the division.
