The New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers open the NHL season on the schedule for Thursday and the game is the first for both sides in 2014 and the matchup is from the Wells Fargo Center as these east rivals matchup and the game is live from NHL.com and starts up past 7 pm ET as NJD tries to rebound from last season.
The Devils come into the game after winning their last preseason game against the Rangers and that was a 3-0 game and after playing the Flyers, the team continues on the road against the Panthers. The Devils were horrible last season and they are looking to bounce back with some new faces in the Metro division. The Flyers were much better and made it into the playoffs, but they lost to the rival of both teams in a seven game series against the Rangers that was tough on both sides.
The Flyers have the Devils now after opening with a loss against the Bruins and they have a busy schedule this week with the Canadiens coming to town on Saturday. The team has a tough schedule to start the season and they play a few playoff teams in a row with the Canadiens, Stars and Blackhawks as their next games. The team travels to Chicago and then to play the Penguins in back to back tough games and then they have the Red Wings, Kings and Lighting to end the month schedule.
Cory Schneider is now the goalie in New Jersey for Martin Brodeur and the team is trying to get back after missing the playoffs in three of the past four years.
